Finish this sentence: I could not have gotten through law school without…
Supportive friends and family.

Who are your mentors? How have they impacted your journey?
As a first-generation law student, my family has consistently been there to support and encourage me as well as to celebrate my accomplishments. They inspire me and remind me to find joy throughout all of the stressful moments of law school.

Kathi Hoke is one of my law school mentors. She helped me discover my own public health interests and has worked with me to find the places that align with my interests. Additionally, she encouraged me to become a stronger advocate for important issues while also helping me develop more confidence in my public speaking skills.

Who was your favorite professor and why?
Kathi Hoke is one of my favorite professors because of her energy and the passion that she has for public health. I think this translated well into the public health clinic with her because it helped me develop a stronger understanding of public health. She also helped me become more confident in my own research and public speaking skills. Also, seeing her passion for tobacco helped me discover my own interest areas where I could exert that same passion and energy.

What was your favorite class and why?
My favorite class was the Opioid Policy Seminar with Trudy Henson. I am interested in the opioid epidemic and the surrounding policy. Taking this class helped me grow my own passion while also expanding my knowledge of the different areas of the epidemic that were not as familiar to me. I honestly just loved the class, the topic, and the conversations that we had in class.
