What was the topic of your capstone project? Why did you choose that topic? What did you learn?
My capstone project was about retirees from the State of Maryland and the continuation of Medicare Eligible retirees prescription coverage. This topic to near and dear to my heart because part of my job is to help people from UMB retire and to hear their concerns about how their prescription coverage may be eliminated and how it will impact them durning retirement made want to research further. One of the things I learned is that a lawsuit can always be filed to help or bring attention to a cause!

Finish this sentence: I could not have gotten through the MSL program without…
My classmates especially Blake 🙂

Who are your mentors? How have they impacted your journey?
Sheila Blackshear, was in the inaugural graduating class of the MSL program, encouraged me to enroll in the program. Her support, encouragement, and words of wisdom helped me throughout the program.

Who was your favorite professor and why?
It’s a tie between Prof. Kerri Lowrey and Prof. Christopher Webster. Prof. Lowrey was my capstone advisor and was extremely relatable and patient. I could not have finished the project without her. Also Prof. Webster helped to peak my interest in Public Heath. His passion and knowledge of the topic was awesome and we couldn’t have had a better professor.

What was your favorite class and why?
Public Health Law was my favorite because of the professor and also it was understandable. It really helps put into perspective what is going on in the world now.
