What was the topic of your capstone project? Why did you choose that topic? What did you learn?
I wrote my capstone project on how the National Environmental Policy Act addresses indirect emissions of greenhouse gases and in what ways it and its implementing regulations can be improved to face the modern challenge of climate change. As a geochemist and climatologist, the topic of climate change is near and dear to my heart, and this project let me explore one facet of the legal and administrative landscape surrounding it.

What was your favorite class and why?
My favorite class was Water Law. We covered a huge amount of ground while also delving deeply into each topic, and every single case we read was incredibly interesting.

How will you use what you learned in the MSL program?
I’m not sure yet. One day in the future, when I’m hopefully a professor of geoscience at a small university, it could give me the background I would want to teach a broad intro to environmental law course as well.
