What was your most memorable moment?
Most of my time here has been spent online. I think because of that I will always remember Covid hitting and the transition from transferring to a new school and then to online at a new school.

Finish this sentence: I could not have gotten through this experience without…
my family.

Who are your mentors? How have they impacted your journey?
I am not sure I would say I have a mentor, but I always tried to learn as much as I can from every professor. I can say that each and every one I have had made this journey a better one.

What did you learn about yourself while earning this degree?
I learned how adaptive I can be. I think we all have had that experience in our own ways over the last year.

Who was your favorite professor and why?
Professor Gifford. The way he teaches and treats his students is atypical in a positive way. It would be an anomaly for him to go a single class period without expressing in some way that he is here for us to learn, rather than him being there to teach. He was one of the first professors I met and set the bar high for all other professors. He instantly made me feel welcome and offered himself as a resource if I ever needed help while navigating this new school. A great professor and even better person.

What was your favorite class and why?
My favorite class was probably patent litigation. It was one of the few classes I took that I knew absolutely nothing about before taking it. I easily struggled the most in that class, but Professor Wikberg made it engaging and went out of his way to explain things many different ways to ensure everyone in the room understood. It says something about the professor and the class if you can keep students engaged in a night class for three hours.

Write a message.
I want to first thank my parents, without them I would never have made it this far. When I graduated high school just six years ago, I am not sure anyone would believe I would be here today. All of that is because of my parents and their support. To both my brothers, they showed me sometimes the end goal is not a linear path and they were always there to listen when I needed help. To Jojo, for always being patient and understanding. Whether we were in Michigan or Maryland you always found a way to support me, even if that meant waiting an extra hour to watch TV so I could finish my homework.

All of my family and close friends can take some credit for me being in this position today, but I know there is one person who is more ecstatic than me; my Meema. As she used to say “I always believed in you even when there wasn’t always a reason to.” If I made anyone proud, I hope it is you and I am so happy you are able to be here to see it come to fruition.
