BLT Graduate Highlights

Kaitlin Anderson
Kaitlin was a member of Maryland Carey Law’s award-winning Transactional Law Team and also served as an ABA Business Law Section governance member, including holding the positions of Student Liaison and Business Law Section Young Lawyer Division Law Student Subcommittee member.

Nathan T. Arnold
Nathan was a member of Maryland Carey Law’s Transactional Law Team and worked as a supervisory student attorney with the Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic.

Alexander Tolman Batton
Alexander earned CALI awards in Legal Analysis and Writing, 2018; Licensing and Tech Transfer, 2020; and Business Planning Seminar, 2020. He was Vice President of the Cyber Law and Data Privacy Association at UMD Law, a member of the Transactional Law Team, and earned the Cybersecurity and Crisis Management Certificate. In 2019, Governor Larry Hogan awarded Alexander the Maryland Governor’s Citation for Commitment to Public Service for his work at the Attorney General’s Office.

Edward T. Bellows
Edward was a 2020 Spring Honors Legal Extern at the Securities and Exchange Commission and a 2020 Pathways Law Clerk at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Marisa Lorraine Eunice Booth
Marisa was the UMB Student Government Association Vice President from Fall 2020-Spring 2021, and was a Student Representative for UMB on the University System of Maryland Student Council from Fall 2020-2021. Marisa served on the UMB Student Fees Advisory Board from Fall 2018- Spring 2021, and served as the Chair from Fall 2020-Spring 2021.

Shelby A. Brown
Shelby assessed the strengths and opportunities of the Baltimore landscape for worker cooperatives for use by the Baltimore City Government and also earned the Cybersecurity and Crisis Management Certificate.

Kevin D. Bucchi
Kevin earned a CALI award in Counseling and Negotiation and served as a law clerk at the National Labor Relations Board.

Kelly Elise Callahan
Kelly’s student comment “CGI Social Media Influencers: Are They Above the FTC’s Influence?” was published in Maryland Law’s Journal of Business and Technology Law. She also earned a CALI award in Written and Oral Advocacy.

Elizabeth Cardinale
Elizabeth served as Secretary of the Business Law Society and as an Executive Board Member of the Entertainment and Sports Law Society.

Joseph Michael Fiocco
Joe was a member of Maryland Carey Law’s award-winning Transactional Law Team in 2020 and 2021.

Krishna P. Gohel
Krishna served as President of the Maryland Intellectual Property Student Association, was Managing Editor for the Journal of Business and Technology Law, and also completed the Intellectual Property Law Track.

Amelia Katherine Green
Amelia was an Ethics and Compliance Fellow at Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, and then worked as a law clerk at Shawe Rosenthal, LLP.

Edward Leo Healy IV
Eddie served two terms as President of the Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Association, co-founded a competition student organization for students interested in sports law competitions, and finished as a quarterfinalist in the 2021 Tulane Pro Football Negotiation Competition, earning 7th out of 36 in the written portion. He was also a finalist at the 2021 DraftKings Sports Gaming Innovation Challenge at MIT Sloan’s Sports Analytics Conference and was a law clerk in the National Football League’s Management Council in summer 2019.

Robert L. Hockenbury
Robert interned for the Honorable Michelle M. Harner in U.S. Bankruptcy Court and established the school’s Bankruptcy Moot Court Team.

Nisha Jain
Nisha served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Business & Technology Law.

Monica A. Kulkarni
Monica was Managing Editor of the Maryland Law Review and a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Team.

Sandy Lamy
Sandy was a founding member of Maryland Carey Law’s inaugural Bankruptcy Moot Court Team and was a member of the first Maryland Carey Law team ever to compete in the American College of Bankruptcy Fourth and DC Circuits Moot Court Competition.

Austin David Laroche
Austin and his partner won the law school’s 2019 In-House Negotiation Competition. In addition to competing for the Negotiation team, Austin was a Writing Fellow and an editor for the Journal of Business and Technology.

Kathryn E. Martin
Katie served as an Executive Board Member for the Alternative Dispute Resolution Team and also earned the Health Law Certificate.

Elizabeth M. McClellan
Elizabeth earned a CALI award in Contracts and served as Articles Editor for the Journal of Business and Technology Law, where her paper, “Facial Recognition Technology: Balancing the Benefits and Concerns,” was published.

Justin Meltzer
Justin served as Treasurer of the Business Law Society, the Vice President of the nationally ranked Alternative Dispute Resolution Team, and was a member of the award-winning Transactional Law Team.

LeBrit Nickerson
LeBrit served as a Thurgood Marshall Law Clerk with the Maryland Office of the Attorney General. She also served as an executive board member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Team, the Black Law Students Association, and the Women’s Bar Association.

Cindy R Polynice
Cindy was a member of the BLSA ADR Team. She and her teammate won 3rd Place in the NBLSA Nelson Mandela International Negotiation Competition. She will be clerking for the Honorable Melanie Shaw Geter at the Court of Special Appeals in the fall.

David Joseph Prevas
Davy earned a CALI award in Family Law and served as a Clinic II student attorney in the Low Income Tax Payer Clinic.

Katherine Elizabeth Claire Roe
Kate externed with the Honorable David E. Rice in U.S. Bankruptcy Court and was on the Transactional Law Team.

Michelle Leah Sidle
Michelle served as Executive Notes and Comments Editor for the Journal of Business and Technology Law. In addition, her student comment, “Opportunity Zone Investing in Baltimore City,” was published in Volume 16.1 of the JBTL. Michelle worked as a Teaching Assistant for the Business Planning Seminar. She interned at SkyBridge Capital and KKR, and externed for Vice Chancellor Fioravanti, Jr. at the Delaware Court of Chancery.

Christine Diane Smith Burton
Christine had an article published in the Journal of Business and Technology Law and also served as Executive Technology Editor for JBTL.

Alyssa B. Testo
Alyssa earned a CALI award in Survey of Employee Benefits Law and was an Articles Editor for Maryland Law Review.

Miles J. Vonderheid
Jad married his beautiful wife a month before 1E began. During Jad’s second and sixth semesters, he and his wife became parents to two wonderful children – Emmelia and Miles. Jad’s greatest highlight of law school was becoming a father and watching his wife become the perfect mom.

Troy T. Walker
Troy also completed the Intellectual Property Law Track, and will clerk for the Honorable Christopher B. Kehoe in the Maryland Court of Special Appeals.

Kristin Elizabeth Wells
Kristin earned a CALI award in the Intellectual Property & Entrepreneurship Clinic, served as President of the Business Law Society, and was a three-year participant on the Transactional Law Team. She externed for Vice Chancellor Fioravanti on the Delaware Court of Chancery during the fall and spring semesters of her 3L year.

Jonathan K. Yuen
Jonathan will be moving to New York City to work as a corporate associate with a practice focus on mergers and acquisitions at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP.
